See you at the show on Saturday, February 23rd at Fresh Cafe. The event will start at 8 PM and go until 12 AM. We’ll be having lots of awesome stuff up for auction (the proceeds of which go towards the Hawaii Arts Alliance) and we will also have a performance by Kwalified!
And for all those planning on attending I recommend that you download a QR code reader for your smart phone. You’ll see why when you get to the event.
Happy New Year everybody!
I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates and lack of “presence” on the web since the last event. We’ve been really busy juggling other things outside of InstaHawaii. But in that time, we’ve been thinking of ways to make our events better. So I hope that you all bear with us and are still stoked about this as we are.
Today begins the submission period of our next event. The theme this time around is GOLDEN. This event will be a special one, as it is the one year anniversary of the first InstaHawaii event. As always, the submission period is two weeks long (Jan. 2 – Jan. 16). There is no limit to the amount of photos that you can submit. All you have to do submit your photos is tag it with #instahawaii4. It’s that easy!
Please spread the word, tell all of your friends about the contest, and get out there and take some photos!
Thanks for all those who submitted photos! I hope that the theme wasn’t too hard. From the looks of the pictures submitted, it looks like everyone had a great time taking the photos.
Congratulations to @_yoenemy, @alicyaf, @alyssaono, @aukailoa, @briannalei, @ereenko, @fotofighter, @islandlivingh, @just_juless, @kauluadams, @kelseyfinniscool, @kersbak, @laameah, @maricchari, @nina8017, @ohmygoddie, @okinamalina, @papaho, @roycer58, @scattycarrot, @sharleong, @steviewonderful, @supercw, @tinypeople!
Your pictures will be featured in this Fridays InstaHawaii 3 show at Fresh Cafe! Please try and make it down to claim your gift bag, and to partake in the event!
Tonight join us in Chinatown for a special event called #RAGE4JAMIL.
A Maui-born avid water sportsman, Newirth, 32, has been diagnosed with a stage 4 cancerous and malignant brain tumor. Since this type of tumor is fast growing and has a 100% recurrence rate, the recent UH-M Richardson Law School graduate faces a lifelong battle, with extensive and very expensive testing and surgery, some of which he has already started.
This event will feature a silent auction, a live auction, music, and much more. Included in the silent auction will be some InstaHawaii photos.
We urge you to come down and support a great cause as we support Jamil in his fight against cancer.
I hope this message is reaching everybody in good spirits. First of all, I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates in recent weeks. But I think this will more than make up for it.
I’m pleased to announce our next InstaHawaii show!
Our next show will be on October 19th at Fresh Cafe (831 Queen St. Honolulu, HI 96813). Mark your calenders!
The theme for this next event is Negative Space. What is negative space? In photography, negative space is the space around and between the subject of an image. The submission period begins on September 26th and will run until October 10th. You’ve got two weeks to submit your best photos with negative space in it. All you have to do to submit is tag your photo with #instahawaii3. There is no limit to the amount of photos you can submit. We actually prefer that you submit a lot! Winners will be notified via Instagram if their photo is selected.
So we were actually supposed to be named in the Honolulu Weekly’s “Best Of” issue last week as the “Best Local Instagram Account”. However, it was cut out of the issue for what I assume was space constraints…
But instead of just a little blurb, we got a feature instead! Thanks Honolulu Weekly, and many thanks to Matthew DeKneef. And an extra thanks to all of our followers, supporters, and participants. We really would not be here with out you guys.
Go pick up a copy of the Honolulu Weekly now!
Or you can just read the article online.
I know that you all must be wondering why it took so long for us to make a Facebook fan page. Well, we have one now so that’s all that matters! So if you have a Facebook, please head on over and like InstaHawaii on Facebook!
